Carme Torras
She has a degree in Mathematics, a Ph.D. in Computer Science and she works as a professor at the Institute of Robotics (CSIC-UPC). In the field of robotics she has worked on neural models, computer vision, artificial intelligence, etc. She is a numerary member of the European Academy and an elected member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona.
In addition, she combines scientific research with literary writing, being a member of the Catalan Society of Science Fiction and Fantasy (SCCFF). Her novel “La mutació sentimental” (Sentimental Mutation) (Pagès, 2008), translated into Spanish (Milenio, 2012), won the science fiction award Manuel Pedrolo in 2007 and the Ictineu award in 2009.
